WIldacre's Fiona

We have a new addition to the Wild. Fiona came to us and volunteered to keep an eye on our free footed chickens.

Here she is... hard at work!

She is a Maremma-

An Italian Livestock Guardian Dog...Quite an impressive title!

She has alot of land to watch

She is not afraid of a little dirt..  And..

She believes in the power of a good Nap.

Happy Birthday Ladies!

Betty. Betty Davis.
She is Five Years Old. Today.
Along with some of her other sisters.

Sweetie. Always the last bird out of the henhouse in the morning.

Laverne. She is the sole survivor of the Andrews Sisters.

Bebe.
You were the Free-Rare-Chick!
I checked the box on the Murray McMurray website and you came into our life!
Thank you for helping me with 5 years worth of weeds.

Snow White.
I still do not know your secret to keeping so clean.

The New Year and the Old Ones.

There were some old years, 2010 and 2011...they must have been alot of work - I did not think to stop and ponder life-
Here are Steve and Lucas, using their mad skills on the wheel!
They have time traveled to 2012 with us and will be up here again soon.
These are some of the sweet critters we re-homed to raise funds for Heifer International in 2011.
Our volunteer crew was very talented and committed to the cause. Humble thanks.

Look !! My friend Melody raised ducks that spring! Little dears were confused when they had to move out of the house!

We visited the Easton Farmer's Fair!

Today we packed up some goody bags with our eggs and a card announcing that we are up and ready to run and walked around the Market introducing ourselves and making new friends. Everyone was so nice! We are hoping alot of them take us up on our invitation to our Open House on June 13.

Electric chickens

Randy wired the coop before the weather went really wintery. Here are a few shots of his handywork.

Bebe sat in that nesting box and watched him the entire time he worked on the switches and plugs.

She was like a Union Boss. We put a ceramic heater bulb in the far one and a regular light in the front one.

When the weather turned cold and nasty the next week- we were all happy that the hen house was cosy.

Liberace and the Girls

The leaves seemed to take forever to hit the ground this year. And then they really got serious.

The birds are taking a fall foliage tour.

Winter is Upon Us

Christmas is almost here. back in November we had a heavy, wet snow visit. The morning was so beautiful.

The dogs were happy about it-they love the snow. I think their color looks especially beautiful when they are in the snow.

Perpetual Motion

The ridge is where we live, look, smell, taste and roam. The Delaware River goes it's way to the ocean, not far from us but out of our sight. There are varmints and there are pets here. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference. We have the four dogs.
